 Netscape 6.2 Email Instructions |
|
!!! Important - Please read before continuing !!!
Below are the instructions for setting up email services through Worldwide Dialup on Netscape 6.2. Because we only set up email accounts on an as needed basis, if you have not already requested an email account with your roaming service, please do so before continuing. This can be done by calling support or by clicking on the Add Email link next to your username on the Manage Account page of our Account Administration. If you need our email services just to send email you will need to request an email account as our mail services need to authenticate you prior to allowing you to send mail.
|
To set up Worldwide Dialup email services on Outlook XP please do the following:
1. Open Netscape Mail 6.2
2. Click on Edit and then Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings...
3. The Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window will open up. Then click on New Account.
4. The wizard will now prompt for the type of account. Please select ISP or email provider and the click Next.
5. You will now be asked for basic information regarding your account. Enter your name in the Your Name field. Enter your email address in the Email Address field. This should be your dialup username followed by @worldwidedialup.net . Then click on Next.
6. Select POP and enter mail.worldwidedialup.net in both Server Name fields and click Next.
7. When you get to this page your User Name should already be in the field. In this case it should be your dialup user name. Click on Next to continue.
8. When you come to this page Netscape will have most likely already selected an Account Name for you. We recommend that you change this to Worldwide Dialup. Then click Next.
9. You will now be prompted to verify your account settings. They should look similar to the picture below. If everything looks good, then click on Finish.
10. You will now be returned to the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window. You will notice that in the white box on the left side that there is a new profile named (username) on mail.worldwidedialup.net. On the right side of this window you can add a Reply-to Address if you would like recipients of your email to reply to a different address. Regardless of whether you add a Reply-to Address please click on Outgoing Server(SMTP) in the white box on the left hand side.
11. You will now see the server settings for you Default outgoing mail server. This is the server that your email will be sent through unless otherwise specified. If the Server Name is mail.worldwidedialup.net be sure that the Use name and password box is checked and that Never is selected under Use secure connection(SSL), otherwise the server will reject your mail when you attempt to send it.
To change your default server or to adjust the settings of a non default server click on Advanced.
12. In this window you can select an outgoing server and click on Set Default to set that server as your default outgoing server, or you can click on edit to view the settings for a profile. Be sure to edit the settings on the mail.worldwidedialup.net profile and confirm that the Use name and password box is checked and that Never is selected under Use secure connection(SSL), otherwise the server will reject your mail when you attempt to send through it. When you are finished click OK to go back to the previous menu.
13. You should now be back at the Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings Window. Assuming you have followed the above directions, you should be ready to send email.
If you need to send an email, but don't want to use your current default outgoing mail server to send messages, you have two options available. The first option is to change your default by clicking on Edit, Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings..., Outgoing Server(SMTP) and then Advanced. The other option is to select the mail server you send from when you create your email. When composing a new email you can click on the From: drop down box and select the server you would like to send from. This will cause that particular email to be sent to the selected server for processing.
Good Luck and Happy emailing!
